Embracing Mt. Iwate in full bloom during the late Spring season

Iwate prefecture’s northern location creates a unique opportunity to experience and observe the fleeting beauty of the Sakura, the traditional custom of hanami, the viewing of cherry blossoms, later in Spring than in most other regions of Japan. In late April and early May, you can see the cherry trees in full bloom with a snow-capped Mt. Iwate in the background. This serves as the source of inspiration for the U.S. Exclusive SBGW313. The 44GS, released in 1967, was the first to define the Grand Seiko Style and has evolved into a modern interpretation with contemporary practicality. The SBGW313 embodies Grand Seiko Style in a stylish mid-size case at 36.5mm diameter with manually wound mechanical Caliber 9S64, providing the watch a 72-hour power reserve despite its compact size.

FEATURES

Inspired by hanami, or the viewing of cherry blossoms, the pink dial of SBGW313 takes inspiration from the fleeting beauty of flowering sakura. Given Iwate's northern location in Japan, the area offers a unique ability to witness the beauty of these cherry trees later in the spring season. Backdropped against a snow-capped Mt. Iwate, the full, pink bloom of the cherry trees is a sight to behold.

Design in the Grand Seiko Style that embodies the aesthetic beauty of Japan. The year 1967 saw the release of the 44GS, the watch in which the Grand Seiko Style design language was fully realized. By modernizing the interpretation while seeking to re-create the design elements as much as possible, we have arrived at the evolved 44GS design. This model has inherited a design befitting Grand Seiko in all aspects, from the hands and dial to the case, taking the form of a watch that displays Japanese aesthetics in a modern fashion.

The manually wound movement features a maximum continuous power reserve of 72 hours (about three days). As the mainspring unwinds, its torque diminishes gradually to ensure that accuracy remains stable.
